Pam Downs, my guest artist, is such a creative master. She can take the simplest ingredients and turn them into WOW embellishments. From just this little snip-it picture of her next card you can see how she used two punches and the trio-flower punch topped off with a brad to make this little embellishment. What you can’t see is that she also used the slot punch beneath it and the embellishment became the handle that closes this card front.
I love how Pam used in the circle shapes all throughout her card, in her stamp image, her pattern paper, the brad embellishments, and her scallop edges. (Rumor has it that circles and doodles are the in thing this year.) Can you see how she added a little punch (sorry, pun intended) behind her brads? She used the 1/4" circle punch to create that little background that makes the brad stand out even more. Here’s how the card opens.
Pam used the Zoofari stamp set and See You Around Jumbo Wheel; Blue Bayou, Soft Sky, Groovy Guava, Blush Blossom colors in her ink and paper; and the new Prints Designer Series Paper in Soft Sky.
I asked Pam how she ever came up with the ideas for these adorable cards. She said she has layouts or ideas in her head that she wants to try, or different ways to use an item. "Then I look at the stamp set and try to figure out a way to incorporate the set with what is in my head. "Sometimes I try several attempts at it before it looks right." If you want to see more of Pam’s work, check out her Stampin’ Up! web site here, or her Splitcoast Stamper’s Gallery here. Pam wrote me that she just recently learned how to use her scanner, so hopefully we’ll see more of her work on-line soon.
Pam, thanks for being my guest and sharing your incredible talent with us.
