I'm always in such awe of anything Melissa Smith creates. She has such a gift for making a card that's simple to construct but exquisite. True to form, she created this card for our StampSmith swap group using the Winter Post stamp set and the Top Note Bigz die, both from the new mini catalog.
That luscious ribbon is the new 1-1/4" Riding Hood Red/Very Vanilla ribbon. This isn't even the best part - check out the inside. She turned it into a gift card holder with some lick-and-stick glue in the top corners.
While our jaws were still dropping, Melissa amazed us with this.
She used the same Winter Post stamp set and added some Holiday Treasures designer paper, Pink Pirouette card stock, and styled silver Hodgepodge Hardware to make this beautiful table top album. Each inside page is embellished with images from the Winter Post stamp set.
Melissa made planning my next hostess club meeting a snap because once my stamping friends saw these, they immediately requested them for our next meeting. Yes, I am truly lucky to have such a talented mentor like Melissa.
If my pictures of Melissa's cards seem especially scenic it's because last week my job took me to Brenham, Texas, where I got to stay at the Far View Bed and Breakfast. Usually I don't like to stay in B&B's while on business travel – I'd rather have free wifi than dusty antiques. But Far View was a wonderful surprise.
The previous home of a physician and his four children, the new owners, Linda Hallett and Steve Zoobkoff, have masterfully modernized the grounds while honoring the elegance of the original estate. We especially enjoyed the outdoor kitchen.
It beats my inside kitchen at home – it even has an electronic dart board, two ovens, microwave, grills . . .

Steve's breakfasts were just amazing, and, since Brenham is the home of Blue Bell ice cream, we felt it only our civic duty to enjoy the little ice cream garnishes he gave with each breakfast. Yummm! Have I told you how much I love my new job!? Besides working with the most amazing team of people, getting to help our seniors, I get to have ice cream for breakfast!
