MFT Pure Innocence Make a Splash

Our three-digit heat and dry, dry drought made soaking in the pool extra inviting this weekend. I don't tan – I just get more freckles. So, after this weekend, you can now play connect the dots with my freckles and I think my eau de chlorine perfume might be permanent.

Here's the inside.

MFT You're Pure Sunshine

While I was floating and crafting this weekend (yes, a charmed life), my daughter was launching her new web, graphic and blog design business. Make a Mama proud and go check out Caitlin's new feb10 design site and The Juice blog, all launched with the help of big brother's e-marketing business, Peitho Media. I'm so proud of them both. They pulled off in one week what's taken me four years of blogging to learn. Genius, those two! Caitlin's a great writer, and she's created a fun place to hang out in at both her website and blog. In her first blog post she asks: "If you could design a logo to represent who you are, what would it be?" My brain hurts trying to figure that one out – I guess that's what she's here for. What do you think?

Catered Crop Recipe

I'm still basking in the glow of my stint last month with the My Favorite Things (MFT) team. MFT sent me so many goodies, i didn't have enough time in one month to play with all of them. This cutie is from the July 2011 release, Pure Innocence Make a Splash.

I made this for the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club sketch #28 (MFTWSC28) – such a fun sketch! You can join us at Splitcoast Stampers, here.

Here's the rest of the recipe and Copic markers.

  • Stamps – MFT Pure Innocence Make a Splash
  • Paper – Echo Park Splash, Stampin' Up! cardstock, Neenah
  • Color Mediums – Memento ink and Copics
  • Fibers – American Crafts ribbon and Baker's Twine
  • Embellishments – Prima Crystals, Stampin' Up! flower brads
  • Tools – Nestabilities; and MFT Die-namics: Sunshine, File Tab and Simply Scallops

How do you get such SMOOTH transitions between your colors? Is that just a practice thing? I’ve played with my Copics and LOVE them, but think I need to put in more time…

    • Katherine, I cheat! I do a lot of paper piecing because I’m still not comfortable coloring and blending large areas. And, I use Stampin’ Up! pastels (chalks) for the cheeks. I get a softer color with the pastels. Make sure you’re using a paper that blends well. I like Neenah. Stampin’ Up! Whisper White does not work well at all! It’s coated, so you can’t get a good blend. Good luck!

OMG- I just noticed that when you picture the Copics, it also goes through and breaks down which Copics you use where. Brilliant! I have not used Copics yet, but they are on my Want-so-dearly list! Now I know which ones I’ll need for skin and hair (#1’s on my list!) Thanks so much!
