Bittersweet October

Bittersweet October. The mellow, messy, leaf-kicking,
perfect pause between the opposing miseries of summer and winter.

Oh my, I am so ready for October and Fall weather! We've had a record breaking miserably dry, hot summer in Central Texas. Today our high was 98 degrees and it felt like a cold front – I almost put on a sweater. It's day two of the My Favorite Things teasers of the October release of stamps and Die-namics – another great reason to be happy for October!

Here are the details about the upcoming release on October 4 at 10:00 PM EST:

  • The My Favorite Things release is on October 4 at 10:00 PM EST. You can attend the release party from 8:00 to 10:00 PM EST here in the forum for fun, games, and prizes! All the new sets and dies will be available October 4 at 10:00 PM EST.
  • The guest designer contest is ON! Check out the forum for details on how YOU can win over $100 in stamp sets and play along with the design team for a month.

Oh my, you all are going to love this next set, Inspired by Autumn. It's classy and elegant, and commemorates my favorite time of the year so beautifully.

My Favorite Things Inspired by Autumn

I put a sheet of two-sided adhesive on the back of some scrap muslin, stamped the pumpkin onto the muslin with my stand-by ink, Memento, and then cut it out with a Nestability die cut. I love how it turned out. This paper is My Mind's Eye Lost and Found – you'll see it again – paired with some Kraft card stock.

I'm having so much fun with the new die cuts with this release. Can you see that luscious Decorative Oval Doily behind the muslin pumpkin? I like it so much, I off set it to show if off a little more. I ran the new Postage Stamp Edge through my crimper thing-a-ma-jiggy, you know, just to rough it up a bit. That sentiment comes with the stamp set and usually also includes the author of the quote. I couldn't fit him into my tag, so I stamped his name separately in the lower corner, William Cullen Bryant.

Now, if I just had some apple cider and pumpkin pie, I'd be set for Fall!

Happy Fall, Ya'll!
