Heart of Texas

The sage in bloom is like perfume
Deep in the heart of Texas.
Reminds me of the one I love
Deep in the heart of Texas.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Here in Waco we have several places with "HOT" in their name. There's the HOT Fair and Rodeo, HOT Tropical Tan and HOT Speedway . . . well, you get the idea. Honestly, I thought it was a little risque for them to put HOT in their neon store-front sign, especially here in the Bible belt.

We moved to Waco about 18 months ago, and I'm a little embarrassed to tell you how long it took me to figure out that HOT wasn't some code for a sexy, spicy strip joint. It wasn't until the Fair and Rodeo actually rode into town that I figured out that HOT was short for Heart of Texas. Oops.

Yep, we're deep in the Heart of Texas. Big hair, big belt buckles, cowboy hats, and rhinestone-studded jeans. Come to think about it, the HOT is hot.

I made this card to show off another fabulous Texana Designs stamp. This one's called Jam'n Barbed Wire Heart Flag. A heart-shaped Texas Lonestar flag – what a great way to show off our Texas pride.

Unfortunately, the paper, ribbon and buttons are from some colors Stampin' Up! released and retired in 2008 and 2009. I liked them so much I hoarded every little scrap. The sketch is from last week's Mojo Monday (Mojo227) and I took some inspiration from Teresa Kline's bows when she used the sketch, kind of like the 1980's side ponytail. Remember those?

To make up for my transgression of using some retired ingredients, I'm leaving you with a ditty from one of my favorite shows, the Big Bang Theory. Sheldon sings "Deep in the Heart of Texas." Enjoy . . . clap, clap, clap, clap!
