I feel very, very blessed to have Vera Ling as a guest writer at Catered Crop.
Her creative resume includes being published multiple times by major paper craft magazines and designing for such fun companies as Avocado Arts, May Arts and Paper Smooches. Most importantly, she has a charitable heart.

Vera created a fun card for Catered Crop readers and brought a special message for you about a mission to bring joy to some of our most precious people.

Hi everyone. Vera’s here from Ling’s Design Studio.

I am so excited to be here today to share a little bit about my Caring Hearts Card Drive. The goal of the card drive is to collect as many Christmas or holiday cards as possible for the elderly who live in nursing homes. This effort started from my mom’s request a few years back. She mentioned how the elderly must be feeling lonely during the holidays to be away from the family or in some cases with no family.

My Mom then suggested I should do something with my cards and send them to the nursing homes and how this would brighten their holiday season. But, when I send the cards I want to make sure that everyone in that nursing home receives a card. And that’s how the card drive idea born. I can only reach many nursing homes with the help of the card maker peeps.

This year, I am back to organizing the card drive for the third year and am hoping many of you will consider participating and sending in cards. Several generous and fabulous companies have donated prizes for the card drive. You can check out all the details for the card drive here: Caring Hearts Card Drive.

Now, I am always partial to clean and simple (CAS) cards. Let’s take a look at the holiday card I made, shall we?

The cutie patootie penguin is from Stampendous and the sentiment was made with Silhouette. Simple, but eye catching, no?

I want to thank Linda for her kind support for the card drive and for this opportunity to spread the word through Catered Crop.

Last year we were able to support about 14 nursing homes; and for this year will you help me to break that record? The holiday season is about joy, caring, and giving, and to be able to use our hobby to bring joy is the perfect excuse to make more cards, right?

Have a blessed day everyone!
