Arsenic and Old Lace Recipe Swap

Look I probably should have told you this before
but you see, well, insanity runs in my family . . .
It practically gallops.
~ Mortimer Brewster in the Frank Capra
film Arsenic and Old Lace (1944)

All the negative campaigns for the national election are over, thankfully, but regretfully so is our "Accentuate the Negative" campaign. I loved watching all the entries for this simple but elegant technique. Congratulations to:

  • Jan R's tinsel buried snowmen (one can never have too much glitter),
  • Kim's sparkly Christmas tree, and
  • Suzie McFloozy's repurposed tissue box (you gotta see to believe).

You ladies are invited to join our Top Chef designers in next Sunday's Quickfire and grab the Winning Recipe button. Just contact me for all the details.

Seriously, if you've never seen the classic Frank Capra movie Arsenic and Old Lace, stop what you're doing right now and check it out. It's a murder mystery, Rom-Com, and horror flick staring Cary Grant at his best (one of my favorite Cary Grant movies).

No horror or mystery here . . . just gorgeous old lace. That's your challenge – to add lace to your paper craft projects.

For extra credit (just for giggles and grins) get a little crazy and add "arsenic" to your project. By arsenic, I mean something a little rugged or rustic, like kraft paper, hemp twine or burlap. Combining frilly lace with rustic textures is such a stunning combination, I'd love to see what you come up with.

So . . . here's how we play.

  • Just show us a project using lace. If you want to kick it up a notch, combine your lace with a little arsenic (rustic textures).
  • Include a link to us at Catered Crop or add our button, which you can grab on our sidebar or at our {button gallery}.
  • Link up and link often, but be sure you link up by 8:00 PM EST on Saturday, November 24.
  • Keep the party hopping by visiting the other players and leaving comments. (The InLinkz tool below will give you a blank to tell us which player's site you visited and left some comment love.)
  • Check back with us on November 25 to see if you've won an opportunity to be a guest designer.

Our Catered Crop and guest designers will be back on Sunday, November 18, with their projects. Until then, here are a few ideas I've curated in my Pinterest board: No Arsenic, Just Old Lace.
