mftwsc99 and Stocking Girl

There's nothing sadder in this world
than to awake Christmas morning
and not be a child.
   ~ Erma Bombeck

I don't think my brother, sister and I will ever forget our Hoosier Christmas of 1968 – the year we got water skis for Christmas. We didn't even have a boat at the time, and, if we had, the lakes were all frozen. What were they thinking?!

I'm the cutie on the right – not smiling! My adorable sister and I were ten, and I was much more interested in an Easy Bake Oven than water sports in December. I mean, really, how do you play with water skis on Christmas morning?

If I could have hopped on a bus, I would have panhandled outside the toy store with my Christmas stocking.

I'm never too old for an Easy Bake Oven – just sayin'.

I have some crazy exciting news. I somehow won the competition for Guest Designer at My Favorite Things with this little card: I Love You Snow Much. I was really just floored to be in company with such stamping greats as Beate Johns and Sharon Harnist and actually win! Holy Cow! I hope that's encouraging to anyone out there who thinks about playing along. If I can win, you all certainly can. The new challenge is up here, so I hope you'll join us.

As part of my Guest Designer gig with My Favorite Things, I get to participate in their Wednesday Stamp Club sketches. You can find the sketch challenge and list of other designers on the My Favorite Things blog. I hope you'll play with us and enter your creations in the Splitcoast Stampers gallery. (I'll be watching for you.)

Isn't that a great sketch? There are so many crazy things you can do with it.

Here are the Copic Markers I used and links to products from My Favorite Things. (I love, love those new buttons!)

  3. Congrats on being picked as the guest designer for this month. Your card was perfect, and the one you made here is one of my favorites for this week’s sketch. Of course, I am crazy for those sweet little PI stamps! I enjoyed reading your cute Christmas story. It’s the very reason I do not buy bicycles for my kids for Christmas…they wouldn’t be able to enjoy them here in Northern Michigan until almost summertime. :) Happy Thanksgiving!

  4. Oh my gosh….the card is adorable, and you are certainly on par with ALL the designers on the MFT team!!!! Love the little embellishments! I had to chuckle at your Christmas photo & story…..we were not sports-minded at all, so water skis would NEVER be under our tree, but I do remember the thrill of getting a Betty Crocker baking set with REAL cake mixes!!! And your sister was a dead ringer for ME in that picture…same glasses, haircut & everything! 😀
Have a blessed Thanksgiving & thanks for sharing your fun stuff!
