I'm at the CHA Winter Trade Show. I never dreamed I'd be able to say that.
I shot this picture yesterday morning under a perfect clear sky as I was walking in – with goosebumps.
So, what's CHA? No, it's not a Cuban dance as in Cha–cha-chá. It's the Craft and Hobby Association. Craft manufacturers of all kinds (jewelry, ceremaics, knitting, leathercraft, etc. . . . ) reveal their latest products for the coming season at the Spring and Winter trade shows. And, of course, the paper craft industry is, in my humble opinion, the star of the show.
Unfortunately, membership into the CHA isn't open to the general crafting consumer. You have to be a "qualified industry professional." It's been a dream of mine for years to both be able to qualify and to be able to go to the trade shows. I'm pinching myself every minute – still not quite believing that I'm here and meeting my idols, like Jody Morrow, Kim van der Sanden, Melody Rupple, Sherrie Siemens, Cindy Lawrence, Lisa Spangler, Marianne Walker, Mona Pendleton, and Carole Burrage. And, every one of them has been every bit as lovely in real life as I imagined them to be. Yes, I'm star struck.
I've been posting pictures of the new products on Facebook and Twitter, though I confess I'm kind of awkward at it. But, if you'd like to follow along with my CHA adventure, you can join me here at:Pin It
