Rickety Rack Recipe Swap

Rick rack, rickety rack
See the train go along the track
When I grow up I want to be an engine driver
But if I can't be that I'll be a deep sea diver.

Boy oh Boy! Your entries in our Bodacious B challenge were brilliant, beautiful and breathtaking. And, oh my goodness, was it difficult to narrow it down to just a few winners. Really, it was painful! Congratulations to Lena Katrine, Wendy Price, and Tracy MacDonald (who used my favorite B ingredient, Boudreaux.). You're invited to join our Top Chef designers in next Sunday's Quickfire and grab the Winning Recipe button.

Congratulations also to player #15, Iris. You've won a $25.00 gift certificate from Purple Onion Designs. Just e-mail me through my contact page, here, and I'll get you hooked up.

Does rickrack make you nostalgic, too? The Ben Franklin Five and Dime kept Grandma Heaton stocked with an unending supply of gingham and rickrack she used to make darling pillowcases. On the other side of my family tree, Grandma Black made adorable rickrack trimmed sundresses for me and my dolls. Ah . . . the good ole days, right?

Raid your sewing notions because our featured ingredient for our next Catered Crop Recipe Swap is rickrack. Oh, and if a few chevrons slip in disguised as rickrack, that's okay, too.

Here's how we roll . . .

  • Just use rickrack somewhere in your project.
  • Include a link to us at Catered Crop or just add our button, which you can grab on our sidebar or at our {button gallery}.
  • Link up and link often, but be sure you link up by 8:00 PM EST on Saturday, May 26.
  • Keep the party hopping by visiting the other players and leaving comments.

Need some ideas? Here's a whole gallery of creative ways to use rickrack in your projects. You can click on the inspiration board above to go to a Pinterest board with the sources of these pictures and more gorgeous ideas, brilliant tutorials and a snicker or two.

Bugaboo Stamps' sugar and spice is such a perfect match for our recipe parties. Jodie says she likes drawing the sweet, "cutesy kids' graphics" but her latest passion is her salty, "cranky old boots" likes Stella, Margaret and the Gals who came after them. You'll find some adorable images and great giggles at Bugaboo Stamps Blog and the Catch the Bug Challenge Blog. One randomly picked winner will get to select Seven Free Digital Stamps.

Be sure to come back Sunday, May 20, to see what our Chefs have dished up for you with their rickrack.

B is for Bodacious Recipe Swap Quickfire

B was a beggarly Bear,
Who carefully curled his front hair;
He said, “I would buy A red-spotted tie,
But I haven’t a penny to spare.”

It’s week two of our “B is for” Recipe Swap. That means it’s time for the Quickfire Round – where our Chefs dish up what they’ve made with the featured ingredient.

Our featured ingredient is The Letter B: buttons, brads, burlap, and bows; bees, bears, bunnies and Bingo . . . anything that starts with the letter B.

Here’s how we roll . . .

  • Just use something that starts with The Letter B somewhere in your project. Be sure to tell us where we can find B in your project.
  • Include a link to us at Catered Crop or just add our button, which you can grab on our sidebar or at our {button gallery}.
  • Link up and link often, but be sure you link up by 8:00 PM EST on Saturday, May 12.
  • Keep the party hopping by visiting the other players and leaving comments.

Winners of the challenge will get the coveted Winning Recipe blog button and an invitation to be featured in our next challenge.

I’ve always loved Purple Onion Design’s whimsical designs, but, oh honeys, the newest release from Stacey Yacula’s Studio is so fresh and fun. One very lucky, randomly selected winner will get a $25.00 gift certificate from Purple Onion Designs. But, you know what? If you see something you like (and you will!), you may not want to wait until our drawing on May 13 to get your hands on them. They are selling out fast! And, get this, because their stamps are made out of unmounted (deeply etched) red rubber, they’re very affordable – more stamps for me!

Here’s a whole Pinterest gallery of creative ways to use the letter B in your projects. There’s even some musical inspiration from Sesame street – I couldn’t leave them out!

Check out what our Catered Crop Chefs and made for you this week featuring freaky-cute images from Purple Onion Designs . . . enjoy! You’ll want to click on the pictures to go to their blog posts for all the details.

I’m crazy excited that two members from the Purple Onion Designs Blog team joined our Quickfire. Welcome Donna and Jennifer!

And, finally, here’s what the winners from our last challenge created for today’s Quickfire. Congratulations Suzie, Cheryl and Monika.
