Sock Stealer!

We have a skeleton in our family's closet. I know, it's shocking. Try as we do to conceal it, it's true, we have a Sock Stealer! The name will be removed to protect the innocent. (It's Caitlin!) The Sock Stealer takes our socks, leaves them for the puppies to chew, and returns them mismatched and dirty. So, I bought her an adorable pair of socks for her birthday – white with a big ole' pink heart on it. The Sock Stealer said it was too cute for her taste, so I put it in my sock drawer – and she stole it!

Even Sock Stealers deserve a Valentine's Day card. So, I made the Sock Stealer this card for Valentine's Day.

And, here's the inside:

Isn't that just freakin' adorable? It's even makes up for all the missing socks. Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net

Recipe

I used the Mojo Monday sketch by Maria Gurnsey, MOJO125.

I won the last challenge for Mo's Digital Pencil Challenge Blog (#17), and got to choose any of Mo's Digital Pencil images as my prize. Oh, my, there are so many great ones to choose from. I picked Hope's Socks to use to enter, yes, the next challenge. Mo's Digital Pencil Challenge #18 asked us to use pink, white and red and to include a heart.

Here are the Copic Markers I used for the outside of the card.

Aren't those little sock charms adorable? I've never done this before, but I ran my Shrinky Dinks sheet through the printer to get Mo's sock image on the Shrinky Dinks. I let it set overnight to dry and then colored it with pencils. (I tried coloring with the Copics, but pencils actually worked better.)

And, finally, I used the Copic Creations Challenge #21, Feather Blending, to blend my baby girl's hair (using E37 and E97).

  • Embellishments – Rose Art Shrinky Dinks (and my own, handmade jump rings), Stampendous Red Ultra Fine Jewel Glitter (applied with Crystal Effects)

A New Challenge – Getting Transparent

SoulTeamRemember last time I told you I have a big announcement – well here 'tis. I'm so freakin' excited.

I get to be a big deal over at the new Soul Scrappers community. Erika Martin created a worldwide community to help scrapbookers learn and share more about their craft but also to help us all put more of ourselves on our projects. And, check it out, she asked me to be part of her design team, "Soul Team." I get to write tutorials, run digital scrapbooking challenges, get my little projects featured – oh yes, my head is bigger than the house right now.

This week I wrote my very first tutorial and today I'm running my first challenge – Cool Beans!  Editing the opacity (or transparency) of pictures in digital scrapbooking pages is one of my favorite techniques, so, you know, that's what we're doin' – gettin digi wit it and getting transparent.

Always Play-004

I haven't had a chance to share this one with you yet because it was"out for publication' on Erika's Journaling 101 online course (which, by the way, is incredible!). It's become one of my favorite pages because it commemorates the special relationship my Caitlin had with her Grandma.

And here's a page I made this week for the challenge with pictures from our Summer trip to the Tetons in Wyoming.

Always Play-006

IWasFeaturedWinners of my challenge get to put this cool badge on their blog. Erika actually made this from hand (it's not a digitally composed graphic). Yes, I'm so stoked about this!

Here's my challenge: Tuesday Digital Challenge DC2 – Getting Transparent. It includes links to Photoshop tutorials, my tutorial for users of Stampin' Up!'s My Digital Scrapbook (Making Opaque Pictures in MDS), and a link to the challenge photo gallery, DC2 – Getting Transparent.

Come join us, but soon, the deadline for the challenge is Monday, February 8. Don't tell anyone, but I want one of you guys to win. Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net
