think green recipe swap

For in the true nature of things, if we rightly consider,
every green tree is far more glorious
than if it were made of gold and silver.

put a bird on it recipe swap winners

Did you have as much fun with the “put a bird on it” challenge as I did? That Portlandia sketch is hilarious, but it turns out there is a nugget of truth – putting birds on things really does magically transforms them. The entries to our challenge were beautiful and sweet, and it was tough to narrow it down to just three winners.

Congratulations to Lyndal, Samantha and Lisa. Just click on the pictures of these beauties to go to the original blog posts.

You’re invited to join our designers in next Sunday’s Quickfire and grab the Winning Recipe button. Just contact me for all the details.

I’ll be back with our next challenge later today, or, I’m afraid to say, possibly Monday. I’m helping my daughter remodel a fixer-upper and move this week and we’re down to the final stages with movers arriving on Monday. Today . . . I installed a wood floor in her studio, cleaned the shed, painted a door and window trim, and, if there was anything else I’m just too body and brain dead to remember. As soon as I recover even just a little bit, I’ll get our next challenge up and running. Here’s a preview: Think Green.

If you don’t hear from me soon, call Adult Protective Services and Save Me from this slave labor!

Hi, I’m Bryce Shivers.
Hi, I’m Lisa Eversman.
And we put birds on things.

Catered Crop Recipe Swap Button

It’s week two of our wacky “Put a Bird On It” challenge. This challenge is inspired by a hilarious sketch that aired on the IFC show Portlandia. In the sketch Bryce Shivers (Fred Armisen) and Lisa Eversman (Carrie Brownstein) are showing off all of their crafts and creations that are magically made better when you “put a bird on it!”

Here’s the sketch from the 2nd episode of Portlandia’s first season.

Bring out the chickens, ducks, owls, eagles, just their feathers or eggs, or even NBA star Larry Bird, and show us how everything is magically better with a bird on it.

  • Include a link to us at Catered Crop or add our button, which you can grab on our sidebar or at our {button gallery}.
  • Link up and link often, but be sure you link up by 8:00 PM EST on Saturday, April 12.
  • Keep the party hopping by visiting the other players and leaving comments.
  • Check back with us on April 13 to see if you’ve won an opportunity to be a guest designer.

I’ve curated some projects to jump start your creative juices in this Pinterest board Put a Bird On It. Our best-in-the-world designers are here today to show you their magical bird-inspired creations. Just click on the pictures of their projects to fly over to their blogs.
