Recipe Swap in Print

You may have tangible wealth untold;
Caskets of jewels and coffers of gold.
Richer than I you can never be –
I had a mother who read to me.

What's black and white and red all over. No, it's not a sunburned penguin. It's books! and newspapers and even the yellow pages . . . But, before we get to all of that, we need to pick some winners from our Button challenge.

You guys really rocked my world and popped my buttons with pride. There were so many great entries. But, I gotta ask you. How cool would it be if stars were made of buttons and buttons grew on trees? Congratulations to Emma H and Allisa for being awarded the Winning Recipes. You're invited to join our Top Chef designers in our next Quickfire and grab the Winning Recipe button.

Congratulations also to player #46, Cheryl Gorka. You get to go shopping at Jellypark for two fabulous Claire Keay digital stamps. The Jellypark images are so darling and Cheryl's so amazing, I can't wait to see what she makes.

I love big books, and I cannot lie. If books are your constant companion, you're going to love our next challenge. We're going to get creative with the printed word because our featured ingredient is Print!

Playing along is easy as A-B-C.

  • Just use a printed page or newsprint somewhere in your project.
  • Include a link to us at Catered Crop or just add our button, which you can grab on our sidebar or at our {button gallery}.
  • Link up and link often, but be sure you link up by 8:00 PM EST on Saturday, February 4.
  • Keep the party hopping by visiting the other players and leaving comments.

Need some ideas? Here's a whole gallery of creative ways to incorporate print into your projects. You can click on the inspiration board below to go to a Pinterest board with the sources of these pictures and more gorgeous ideas and brilliant tutorials.

There's more yummy goodness. We have a Texas size treat for one lucky player.

Texana Designs is back in the house. Texana Designs is the brain child of my sweet friend, Jimmye Sue Mitchell, and her darling daughter Maggie. Their rubber stamp images with a Texas flair are all designed by native Texan artists. But, don't reckon ya'll have to have a Texas twang to play with their stamps – there's a whole shootin' match of fun images to suit yer fancy. And, there's a whole rodeo of fun at the Texana Blog and Texana Facebook page where you might bump into Top Chef Libby Hickson and an outlaw like me.

Be sure to check out the Texana Designs store because one lucky player will win a $25 gift certificate to go shopping!

Now . . . let's get cooking.

Be sure to come back Sunday, January 29, to check out what our Top Chef, and Guest and Celebrity Chefs have dished up for you.

Let's vamoose where gals keep usin'
Those silks and satins and linen that shows

Catered Crop Recipe Swap Button

It's been a blast to watch all your favorites from 2011 over the past several weeks. If you've never done a year in review of your work, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

Ellie from My Creative Moments and Suzie McFloozie, you both gave us such amazing entries for our last Recipe Swap, that we'd like to award you both the award of "Winning Recipe" and invite you to join our designers in our next Quickfire. Please feel free to grab our newly designed {Catered Crop Winning Recipe} button.

Thanks to everyone who played along with our 2011 Showcases for giving us such lovely, yummy eye candy.

Oh my goodness gracious gravy!

I'm crazy excited to get our 2012 Recipe Swapping into full running mode again after our holiday hiatus.

Why am I so freaky excited? Singing and dancing on the table excited? Well . . .

  • All our Top Chef designers are back along with some new faces to make only the Best Design Team on the Whole Planet.
  • You're going to Flip Out when you see the sponsors we have lined up..
  • We've stirred things up a bit to make our Recipe Swap simple and fun by requiring only one easy recipe ingredient.
  • It's easier for you to find the latest updates with a dedicated page to the Recipe Swap. Just click on the {Recipe Swap} button on the top tool bar to find the latest news.
  • The player who serves us the best dish with the most creative use of the featured ingredient will be invited to join the Design Team in the next Quickfire and will get to grab our newly redesigned "Winning Recipe" button to place on their blog.
  • We're serving up two sources of inspiration.

Inspiration #1 – The first day of the challenge we'll have an inspiration board with tons of creative uses of the featured ingredient. When you click on the inspiration board, it will take you to a Pinterest board for the sources of the pictures (included tutorials, if available), and other surprises we've curated for you.

Inspiration #2 – On the second Sunday of the challenge, only the Best Design Team on the Whole Planet will be back to show you what they've made with our featured ingredient.

Shew . . . cool stuff, right?! Well, enough about all that. Let's get the party started!

For the next two weeks, our featured ingredient is Buttons!

Remember, you can click on the inspiration board below to go to a Pinterest board with the sources of the pictures and more ideas.

The rules are simple.

  • Be sure to use a button somewhere in your project.
  • Include a link to us at Catered Crop or just add our button, which you can grab on our sidebar or at our new {button gallery}.
  • Link up and link often, but be sure you link up by 8:00 PM EST on January 21.
  • Keep the party hopping by visiting the other players and leaving comments.

Our sponsor for this challenge is, appropriately enough, Claire Keay's Jellypark digital stamps – which are absolutely cute as a button.

Claire is one of my all time favorite illustrators. Her images are so sweet and darling, they just pluck at my heart strings. Before 2011 we could get her images in clear stamps and at her Etsy store. Just last year Claire opened up an on-line shop offering some of her original art, digital decoupage sheets, printable party supplies, and – yay for us – digital stamps. She also launched an on-line magazine, Jellypark Challenge Blog and even a Jellypark Children's Art Challenge Blog. You can find all of that and more at her Jellypark home.

Be sure to go take a peak at Claire's JellyPark, because the random winner of our Button Recipe Swap will get to choose two Jellypark digital stamps.

Enough yapping from me . . . let's Party!

Be sure to come back Sunday, January 15, to check out what our Design Team has dished up for you.

Recipe Swapping Just Because

Piglet sidled up to Pooh from behind.
   "Pooh!" he whispered.
   "Yes, Piglet?"
"Nothing," said Piglet, taking Pooh's paw.
"I just wanted to be sure of you."

Catered Crop Recipe Swap Button

Wow, I had a blast watching all the fun birthday cards come in for our last Recipe Swap. Can I just tell you all – my birthday is in August, you know, just in case you need to send your gorgeous cards to some ol' broad?

Kerry's card for her bathing-beauty friend made me giggle 'till I wiggled. I hope I'm as sexy as her friend Sadie when I'm 81 years old.

Congratulations Kerry from Ladybug Crafts Ink. We choose your card as the crème de la crème among our of buffet of entries last week. Please feel free to grab our newly designed {Catered Crop Winning Recipe} button.

My favorite cards to make or receive are the ones made for no reason other than to say "you are important to me." Or, as Piglet said to Pooh, just "to be sure of you." Ah, I love Piglet.

We're shaking things up at Catered Crop. I hope we're not confusing you too much. This month we're giving our designers and sponsors a break and looking back at 2011. Our challenge is part of a month-long "year in review" with different themes each week.

Most challenges ask you not to link back to previous projects. Well, forget those rules! Go back into your archives and pull out your favorites from 2011. This week our theme is Just Because.

So . . . here are the rules for playing  . . .  there are very few rules.

  • Link up your favorite Just Because from 2011, including, if you prefer, any you make this week.
  • Keep the party going and fun by leaving a comment on the projects of the two people who posted in front of you.
  • This party ends at 8:00 PM on Saturday, December 24, and we'll start another one on Sunday, December 25 (so be thinking about your favorite Holiday Card for next week).
  • Enter as often as you'd like.
  • Feel free to leave a comment about why this is your favorite 2011 Just Because card.

And, here are the favorite Just Because cards our Top Chef designers picked from their 2011 archives. Just click on the picture to go to their original blog post.
